Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Tender Parmesan

  • 1 large egg 
  • 2 tablespoons water 
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided   
  • 1/2 cup plain Panko breadcrumbs 
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning, divided 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse black pepper 
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil 
  • 1 pound fresh chicken tenders 
  • 3 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced  
  • 1 cup marinara sauce


    1. In a small bowl, combine eggs and water. In a medium bowl, combine breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Add vegetable oil and mix thoroughly to coat crumbs. 
    2. Dip the chicken tenders in egg mixture and roll in crumb mixture until evenly coated. Add coated chicken tenders to air fryer basket in a single layer. 
    3. In a small bowl, combine marinara sauce and remaining Italian seasoning. Cover and heat in microwave for 1 minute.  
    4. Set air fryer temperature on 400°F. Turning halfway through, cook 8 to 10 minutes or until temperature reaches 165°F when tested with a meat thermometer. 
    5. Spread sliced mozzarella, marinara, and remaining Parmesan cheese over tops of tenders. Continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese is melted.

    Serves: 4
